Campaign: The Festival Tent of Göteborg Film Festival
10 februari 2010
During the great winter happening in Göteborg – The Film Festival – a tent is raised to be used as a place where you can listen to talks, see performances and party to the music of great live bands.
There are preconceptions that the Film Festival and the Festival Tent only draws audience from the cultural elite. The kind of people that makes you a bit nervous, or makes it hard to confess that one actually believed that “Sånger från andra våningen” (Swedish film) perhaps was a bit too long.
We wanted the Festival Tent to make a state as friendly space for all kind of filmlovers, and not as a club for mutual admiration.
So how do you define a cultural elitist? We gathered our own and others preconceptions about such a person, and made a charachter out of them – Sebastién K. Andersson. A pretentious young man, a suffering soul who works as an informant for the Film Festival. That is his take on it, at least.
How do we show how you can be yourself in the Festival Tent? With Sebastién, and a great deal of self-distance.
Copy: “The superficial tomfoolery in the Festival Tent makes me quail!” – Sebastién K. Andersson, Guardian of the fine culture.
Copy: “The Festival Tent appears tobe all about crude entertainment. That opresses me.”
Copy: “The Film Festival Tent is just about amusements – How does that bestead the art of film?”
